Rambam Maimonides Medical Journal is an international peer reviewed Open Access scientific medical journal. It is one of the few in the world generated at a hospital campus, and the only such publication in Israel.
The Journal was inaugurated in July of 2010. As a new player in the field, its acceptance has been relatively quick. It was accepted for Indexing by PubMed Center (PMC) and PubMed in 2012. Since then it has been indexed by many others including DOAJ and EBSCO. As of March 2016, the Journal is listed in the Thomson Reuters Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). We are scheduled to be checked for an Impact Factor in 2019.
Since its launch in June of 2010, Rambam Maimonides Medical Journal has received outstanding exposure demonstrated by more than 17,000 subscribers, with 300,000 page views and 177,000 articles downloaded from 162 countries and territories.
The Journal provides articles of interest to the wider scientific medical community, ranging from Original Research to articles with a Jewish flavor in medicine, including the History of Medicine. Authors include eight Nobel Laureates and leaders in their field from around the world.
As of 2017, the Journal has established The Maimonides Best Published Research Prize, to encourage the publication of quality research.
