Information for the Press

Rambam Maimonides Medical Journal (RMMJ) is an international, peer-reviewed, Open Access scientific medical journal published by Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel. It is unusual among medical journals in being produced within a major academic hospital and is the only journal of its kind in Israel.

The Journal was inaugurated in July 2010 and rapidly gained international recognition. It was accepted for indexing in PubMed Central (PMC) and PubMed in 2012 and is now indexed by major scholarly databases and services, including  ScopusCabell's Scholarly Analytics, the Directory of Open Access JournalsPubMed, Clarivate's Emerging Sources Citation Index and Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The Journal is also a member of Crossref and EBSCO, and its articles are discoverable through Google Scholar.

RMMJ has a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 2.0 and is ranked Q2 in Medicine, General & Internal. Its articles reach a broad international readership, attracting more than 150,000 new readers annually from more than 200 countries and territories. The United States represents the Journal's largest readership, with approximately 100,000 readers annually. RMMJ also has more than 17,000 subscribers worldwide.

The Journal publishes material of interest to the broad scientific and medical community, including Original Research, Reviews, Special Articles, and articles exploring the history, ethics, philosophy, and Jewish heritage of medicine. Its authors have included eight Nobel Laureates, together with internationally recognized physicians, scientists, and leaders in their fields.

As a fully Open Access journal, all RMMJ content is freely available to readers worldwide.
